Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, A Stone).
Who was Peter and How did God show grace to him?
He is Inquisitive- He is honest and willing to ask questions. When have questions, God is always willing to answer.
Matthew 15:15 NKJV — Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”
Luke 12:41 NKJV — Then Peter said to Him, “Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?”
Matthew 18:21 NKJV — Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
He has Initiative- When the a situation arises he is the first person either willing to ask the question and jump into action. He made mistakes, God was willing to work through him.
Matthew 16:16 NKJV
[16] Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
John 18:10 NKJV
[10] Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
He is Involved- His belief, and unbelief involves his actions. As we call ourselves believers, may our actions exemplify our faith.
